The Current News From The Fossil Hunters
Not twenty feet from the charcoal cook pit just a few feet away from where we found the Tooth and Jaw Bone, The Fossil Hunters turned up a dark rib bone. A quick rinse in the inlet water revealed that this fossil wasn’t any normal bone. On one side, there is a huge...read more
When preliminary forensic tests on the bone began in 2009, experts went on the assumption that the carving was fake. But these tests, and further analyses by the Smithsonian team, proved that the etching was real. (Read National Geographic magazine editor Chris...read more

The Fisherman Bone
Hold this fossil in your hand and you will be transported back in time. Your destination, a time before recorded history, before the root of civilization, before the development of written language, back thousands of years to the Paleolithic or Old Stone Age, when saber-toothed tigers roamed the earth, when paleo-man shared the trails with giant sloths, and braved the elements along side the mammoth.
At At first glance this may appear like any other fossilized bone fragment, but upon closer examination you discover it is much more than just a fossil.
Notice the etching?
With the light held just right, the image jumps out at you. It is then that you realize that it is actually a canvas, a portable piece of art containing an etching of the earliest depiction of a human in the Western Hemisphere.
The Mammoth Bone “portable art” has been carbon dated at 13,000 years old, making it one of the oldest representations of recorded human consciousness in history. Portable Art or as the Fossil Hunters call it “Story Bones”.
The Fossil Hunters will offer The Fisherman Bone to the world so that everyone can experience this incredible part of human history. Are you ready to discover the past and change history…
The bone is telling a story via the portrait of a fisherman, with spear in hand, catching a large fish. On the other end of the canvas there are a series of chevrons, tally marks, recording the number of previous catches perhaps? A story bone, nonetheless, containing the earliest recorded human train of thought.
This piece is the second story bone of it’s kind. The first story bone was a depiction of a mastodon charging through a village of teepees, a traumatizing event for the tribe, and certainly an event worth recording.
“This is an incredibly exciting discovery,”
– study co-author Dennis Stanford, an anthropologist at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, said in a statement.
Dr. Dennis Stanford, Director of the Smithsonian’s Paleoindian/Paleoecology Program, Head of the Division of Archaeology who has lectured here on Vero’s archaeological importance.
THE FOSSIL HUNTERS RECENT FINDS
If we only had the resources to follow. Can you imagine what the Fossil Hunters could find?
A Prehistoric Mastodon Tooth and Jawbone Fossil.
It was one of the largest land animals living during the ice age.
This Prehistoric Mastodon bone has been named the Paloma Rib Bone Fossil. It has a carving of a chevron and other markings clearly indicating human interaction.
This piece was found near an ancient charcoal cook pit, a few feet from where we found the Tooth and Jaw Bone. The elephant-like American mastodon was a distant relative of the mammoth, with whom it shared its ice age home…
A LITTLE ABOUT THE FOSSIL HUNTERS
The treasure we search for is not of gold or silver. Our mission is to prove that human interaction took place with creatures dating back 50000 years and beyond. The group is well oiled machine. It consists of two lead divers, one technician, one scout, “the go to guy”, and one point man on the lookout for what ever dangers may occur. What ever it takes, we are ready to roll. We have already discovered one of the most spectacular finds in the Western Hemisphere. After the find was examined, tested and retested for four years by experts from Europe and the United States. The scientific community agrees, it is the REAL DEAL!
But what is not know is there was more to the story that was never told. There is a second bone that is even more spectacular then the 1st. And so much more that the Fossil Hunters have all ready unearthed.
Portable Art or as the Fossil Hunters call it “Story Bones”. Not just tell us a story through etchings, depictions, tally marks, chevrons, and so much more… Not Just the 1st piece of Art, Not The 1st Story ever told. Show me Art Work or Story Etch in stone or bone in the western hemisphere that’s 32,000 years old.
But we feel is the most important is… the 1st conscious thought “I THINK THEREFORE I AM”

The significance of this artifact is akin to finding the first book, the first paleo version of a portable radio or television, no longer did the communal story need to remain stationary on the cave wall to make an impact on the tribe. Here, the graphic form of communication is mobile. And it holds a message of equal importance. A human being depicting another member of its race, a graphic representation of self awareness, consciousness, perhaps the first known example in the Western Hemisphere, “I THINK THEREFORE I AM”.
